The Immigrant Victims Representation Project (IVRP) is a sub-department of the Immigration Department at Catholic Charities. It was founded in 2008 to address the particular needs of immigrant survivors of abuse, exploitation, trafficking and other crimes.
IVRP staff educate clients on their rights, connect them with wraparound survivor services, and help them apply for lawful immigration status, such as the U-visa, T-visa, a green card through the Violence Against Women Act, or Special Immigrant Juvenile status.
IVRP staff also conduct outreach to police and family service providers to train them on immigrant survivors’ special needs and options. Through these efforts, IVRP empowers some of the Diocese’s most vulnerable residents, especially women and children, but also men. It provides clients with safety, healing, legal help, and access to the social and economic life of our communities.
This project is partially supported by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance through a Victims of Crime Act of 1984 (VOCA) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. All VOCA services are free of charge.
