Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)

Through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), CCFR can aid households through two main programs: (1) Homeless Prevention and (2) Rapid Re-Housing.

• Rapid Re-Housing provides short-term to medium-term rental assistance for households experiencing literal homelessness, which is defined by HUD as those living in places not meant for human habitation. This includes emergency shelter and unsheltered homelessness. To access these funds, a household must call their community’s Coordinated Entry System (CES).
• Homeless Prevention provides financial assistance (rental arrears, utility payments, rental assistance, moving assistance, etc.) for households who are defined by HUD as at-risk for homelessness. This means that a household must either have a court judgment of eviction or a 14 or 30-day notice to vacate, and be under 30% of the Area Median Income. Again, to access these funds, a household must call their community’s Coordinated Entry System (CES).
